This Global Forum aims to:

  • Energize and inspire us by connecting and learning from each other
  • Celebrate what we’re doing and our positive impact around the world
  • Strengthen our commitment to keep spreading the energy!

GLOBAL FORUM 2025

Date: 18/Jan/2025

Excellent participation from about 40 Sport for Life volunteers and partners calling in from Timor-Leste, Cabo Verde, Mozambique, Zambia, Botswana, Malawi, Angola, France and Portugal!

Here is a summary of presentations and discussions:

  • The meeting started with a global update on Sport for Life activities in different countries in 2024, including the number of courses, trained trainers and organizers, and participants in activities.
  • Malawi, Zambia, Cabo Verde, Timor-Leste and Botswana shared updates on their Sport for Life activities and challenges faced in 2024.
  • Malawi shared their efforts to register Sport for Life as an official association and the need for funding to complete the process and run activities.
  • Nuno highlighted the active facilitators of the year.  Molefhi Kannemeyer Obenne was the Facilitator of the Year, having facilitated seven Sport for Life Courses around Botswana and one Train-the-Trainer. 
  • Molefhi presented a social entrepreneurship project in his hometown in Botswana involving partnerships with various businesses to support activities.
  • Virginia introduced the Youth for Life pilot in Timor-Leste, an adaptation of Sport for Life focused on helping young people identify and develop their talents beyond just sports. All draft training materials are available online.
  • Leonardo shared opportunities for online webinars and capacity-building programs relevant to Sport for Life.
  • Participants discussed strategies for securing funds, such as partnering with Olympic Committees to access Olympic Solidarity programmes, and exploring other grant opportunities.
  • Countries shared their commitments and plans for expanding Sport for Life and Youth for Life activities in 2025.
  • The meeting concluded with the traditional “LET’S DO IT!” ritual, with participants shouting the phrase in different languages as loud as possible to energize and inspire each other.
