SportImpact gathers  kids in Liquiçá to celebrate Labour Day though sport activities

 

On Friday, May 1st, SportImpact celebrated Labour Day with a multi-sport event at the Football Field of Liquiçá. Around one hundred children and youth could try for free seven different sports and activities: athletics, badminton, table tennis, football, volleyball, beach tennis and traditional games.

Showing that goodwill, collaboration and determination make everything possible, the event was organized in collaboration with local organizations: Youth Center Liquiçá, Child Fund, Action for Change Foundation, University for Peace, Athletics Federation and Football Federation.

The event included education and health elements on anti-smoking and littering. SportImpact is looking for partners who would like to introduce other activities in future events.

SportImpact also organized a five-day workshop at the Liquiçá Youth Center on “Guide for the Organization of Sport Events”, where ten local representatives from the Youth Center, Athletics Federation, Football Federation, among others took part. Participants co-organized the event last Friday, practicing what they learned in the workshop. Most of them stated that they are already planning to replicate it in the future.

In the end of the event the highlights were the distribution of certificates to workshop graduates, followed by the distribution of balls from the One World Play Project to several local organizations. Since SportImpact’s mission involves maximizing impact with scarce resources, the organizations interested in receiving balls had to fill up a detailed application form explaining how they intend to use them.

The closing ceremony was marked by the motivational speeches of General Director of Secretary of State of Youth and Sport, Mr. José Luis De Oliveira and The Vice-President of the Timor-Leste Sport Confederation, Mr.  Afrânio Xavier Do Amaral.

After the success in Dili and Liquiçá, in the next few months SportImpact will take this project to seven other Timor-Leste municipalities: Ermera in May, Manatuto in June, Lautém and Oecusse in August, Aileu in September, Bobonaro in October and Baucau in November.

According to SportImpact, the budget available for this project is very limited. SportImpact thanks in particular the support from AICEP Portugal Global – Agency for Investment and Foreign Trade of Portugal, through an intern, the Timor-Leste Sport Confederation who provided transport and the One World Play Project, who offered ‘indestructible’ footballs through ChildFund.’’

For this event SportImpact also thanks the support from all co-organizers and volunteers, with special acknowledgment to the Liquiçá Youth Center.

A SportImpact reúne crianças em Liquiçá para celebrar o Dia Internacional do Trabalhador

Para celebrar o Dia Internacional do Trabalhador, a SportImpact organizou na sexta-feira, dia 1 de Maio, um multi-evento desportivo no Campo de Futebol de Liquiçá.

À volta de uma centena de crianças e jovens das escolas de Liquiçá, puderam experimentar gratuitamente sete desportos e atividades diferentes: atletismo, badminton, futebol, tênis de praia, voleibol e jogos tradicionais.

Demonstrando que com boa-vontade, colaboração e determinação tudo é possível, o evento foi organizado em colaboração com organizações locais: Centro de Juventude, Action for Change Foundation, Universidade da Paz, Child Fund, Federação de Atletismo e Federação de Futebol.

A SportImpact também organizou, no Centro de Juventude de Liquiçá, um workshop com duração de cinco dias sobre “Guia para a Organização de Eventos Desportivos”, com a participação de dez representantes locais do Centro de Juventude, Federação de Atletismo, Federação de Futebol, entre outros. Os participantes co-organizaram o evento na sexta passada, praticando o que aprenderam no workshop. Grande parte afirmou que já planeia replicar o evento no futuro.

No final do evento, os pontos altos foram a distribuição de certificados aos graduados do workshop, seguida da entrega de bolas do projecto One World Play a diversas organizações locais. Uma vez que a missão da SportImpact envolve a maximização do impacto com a utilização de recursos escassos, as organizações interessadas emreceber bolas tiveram de preencher um formulário de candidatura detalhado onde explicaram como planeiam utilizar as bolas.

A cerimônia de encerramento ficou marcada pelos discursos motivacionais do Diretor Geral da Secretária de Estado da Juventude e Desporto, Sr. José Luís De Oliveira e do Vice-Presidente da Confederação de Desporto, Sr. Afrânio Xavier do Amaral.

Depois do sucesso em Dili e em Liquiçá, a SportImpact pretende levar este projeto a sete outros municípios de Timor-Leste: Ermera em maio, Manatuto em Junho, Lautém e Oecusse em agosto, Aileu em Setembro, Bobonaro em Outubro e Baucau emNovembro.

Segundo a SportImpact, o orçamento disponível para este projeto é muito limitado. SportImpact agradece especialmente o apoio da AICEP Portugal Global – Agência para o Investimento e Comércio Externo de Portugal, através de um estagiário, à Confederação de Deporto de Timor-Leste por providenciar transporte e ao projeto World Play Project, que ofereceu bolas de futebol ‘indestrutíveis’ através da ChildFund.
