VerdeOlympics‘ alumni organized another VerdeOlympics event in their region on June 25th (Saturday), to commemorate the birth of the modern Olympic Games on 23 June 1894. This event was celebrated at national scale in 8 of the 9 inhabited islands of Cabo verde.

About ‘VerdeOlympics’

The VerdeOlympics program is a Sport for Life initiative based on the key lessons learned by SportImpact in Timor-Leste and adapted to Cabo Verde reality. The program is being implemented in partnership with the Cabo Verde Olympic Committee. Other stakeholders are engaged and contributing actively to the project, such as the Cabo Verde Ministry of Sport & Education through the General Directorate for Sport and local schools, the Cabo Verde Ministry of Youth through Youth Centers and the Institute for Children and Adolescents, NGO SOS Children’s Villages, national sport federations and associations, among others.
