Say ‘Hi’ to Dircia Pimentel from Timor-Leste, SportImpact’s Administration & Finance Manager.

Brief Introduction

Dircia is also the Secretary of Administration and Finance at the East Timor Cycling Federation (ETCF). At ETCF she has been part of an important success story in Timor-Leste sports, helping cycling reach a whole new level, with regular national competitions across the country, in mountain bike and BMX, an elite national team following a systematic preparation and competition calendar, and diverse funding sources, including private sponsors and the Government.

Dircia is deeply commited to continuous learning and to boosting the development of Timor-Leste sports. She is studying Portuguese Literature at Institute Superior Crystal, in Dili, Timor-Leste. She is fluent in Tetum and Bahasa Indonesia, and has working knowledge of English and Portuguese.

How did you join SportImpact?

I like SportImpact a lot because I learnt a lot from Jaume and Nuno on how to organize and build a company. Initially, I had no idea on how a company was built. I learnt a lot from the things they let me do independently and I enjoy working with both of them as they are professionals who help me increase my knowledge.

What are some things you have learnt from SportImpact?

Marketing was something I was new to. Jaume showed me how it works and how important it is in organizing an event. I feel that it is important for all sports federation staff to know how to organize events and manage their individual federations. It is as important as administrative work other areas of work.

What do you enjoy most about working in SportImpact?

I hope that SportImpact can continue to help all sport federations in their management, as well as to help them find funding for the development of their sport.

What is your dream for the future of Timor-Leste?

I hope that we can build a social fabric where all students who have finished their studies can find employment. There is high unemployment especially amongst the young today. Some of them have little skill with only degrees from senior high, which makes it difficult for them to get good jobs in the government for example. Applying to university is tough due to the cost of course fees, which some cannot afford as their parents do not work. I hope that there will be more jobs for the young in the coming years.

What is your dream for sport in Timor-Leste?

I hope we can organize more sports activities and have all the federations work together to organise sport for all. They can partner with CDTL, National Olympic Committee of Timor-Leste (CONTL), and Secretary of State for Youth and Sports (SEJD), to increase support from high powers so together, we can develop sport in Timor-Leste.
